Aberdeen Confirm Striker's Departure

Aberdeen have confirmed the departure of striker, Ryan Edmondson, as his loan contract has ran out, with the Englishman heading back to Leeds.

Ryan was brought in the day before the opening game of the season after the news that both Sam Cosgrove and Curtis Main would be out long term. He came on in the 65th minute to see out Aberdeen's 1 nil loss.

He eventually himself got injured for around a month, since then he never really got a big chance.

How did Ryan fare during his time at the dons?

League

In the League Ryan played a total of 14 times with a total of 359 minutes between them. In most of his games he came off the bench to see the game out. He scored 2 goals with both coming in a 4-2 victory over Hamilton Accies. One of his 2 assists also came in this match, with the other coming in a 2-1 win over St Mirren.

Cup

Overall, like Aberdeen, Ryan only played once in the cup, coming on against St Mirren in a

2-1 loss with one minute to go.

Europa League Qualifying

Edmondson played one match in the Europa league, in a loss to Sporting Lisbon in the 3rd Qualifying Round which saw Aberdeen bundle out of the tournament thanks to Manchester City loanee, Pedro Porro's strike.

Overall it was an underwhelming spell, with signs of promise Ryan does look quite the player. Hopefully we will see him back in Scotland sometime soon.

Following his departure, Ryan took to twitter to say, "Would like to thank this amazing club and everyone within it to be given the opportunity to put on this shirt and represent the club".

"Was very special for me to scored my first professional goals here and will always be remembered".

"Thank you all once again and I wish you all the best in the future".

Don's boss, Derek McInnes was reportedly interested in extending the loan but doubts over gametime ruled it out.

He follows fellow loanee, Martley Watkins out of Pittodrie.
