Rangers coming into this game in superb form as their title dreams is seemingly becoming a reality. Dundee Utd coming into this game after a hefty 3-0 win against highflying Livingston. A win for the ‘Shed’ would see them into 6th place only 11 points off Europe. A win for Rangers would mean they would only need 7 more points to halt Celtics 9 year dominance.
First Half:
The game got off to a lively start as Liam Smith laid off Laurence Shankland as he found himself through on goal but only for Allan McGregor to deny the Scotland international. Dundee Utd was taking the game to Rangers as Shankland slipped the ball into the path of Nicky Clark as he found Louis Appere who tried to round the keeper but Allan McGregor with a vital touch to deny Louis Appere. Shortly after Joe Aribo found himself driving into Dundee Utds box as he had a shot from just inside the box however Benjamin Siegrist with an outstanding save to deny Joe Aribos efforts at goal. Dundee Utd converted into a fluid counter attack when Laurence Shankland found Nicky Clark who played a neat ball into Louis Appere who had a shot from distance but Routine for Rangers number 1. A few mins later Aribo was lurking around the box when he eventually had a shot which took a deflection diverting past Siegrist as Rangers broke the deadlock 10 mins before the interval. 3 minutes after Barasic played a ball into the box which was cleared only to Ryan Kent who hit one on the half volley taking a deflection past the keeper to make it 2-0 to the League leaders.
Second Half: The Second half started off when Joe Aribo found himself through on goal after a neat one two from Morelos just before Aribo slotting it past Siegrist to make it 3-0. With 25 mins to go Morelos found himself chasing a loose ball which was closed down from Siegrist who attempted to punt it up the park however only to find the ball go backwards from a Morelos block as the ball rolled into the empty net to make it 4 for Rangers. Rangers weren’t down there as a ball was feed into Morelos who then went down for a penalty which was given after Fuchs dragged Morelos down in front of the path of the Referee. Barasic was the Rangers player looking to convert yet another goal from the 12 yard spot however Siegrist came up trumps as Barasic was denied from 12 yards. Marc McNulty found himself driving at the Rangers defence when he finally had a low driven shot past the arms of Allan McGregor to get one back for the Shed. Shortly after the final whistle was blown as The Gers collect all 3 points in comfortable fashion.
ROSS COUNTY V CELTIC
The ‘Staggies’ coming into this fixture with little hope as they have struggled recently after only winning One out of their last 4. Celtic on the other hand were picking up form after winning 5 on the bounce. A win for Ross County would be huge as they would move up to 9th!
1st half: From the start Ross County was taking the game to Celtic when Tony Andru had a shot from distance but routine for Scott Bain. The chances for Ross County kept coming when Andru played it in for Blair Spittal who was then clear on goal however Bain matches the shot with a great save to push it wide for a Ross County corner. Callum McGregor found himself driving forward into the Staggies defence where he played a silk through ball into Edouard who then set up Ryan Christie in what should have been 0-1 to Celtic however the Scottish International skied it over the bar which looked harder to miss than score from 6 yards out.
2nd Half: Celtic new boy Jonjoe Kenny brought down Harry Paton in what looked a dangerous free kick. Harry Paton swung the ball into the Celtic box where the ball found Jorden White who nodded it home for the Staggies to make the breakthrough for Ross County in what would be a historical win. Seconds remaining in what was a gut-wrenching game for Ross County. A corner was played short from Jonjoe Kenny into the path of Mohamed Elyounoussi who leaped up however Ross Laidlaw came up trumps as he makes the incredible stop to put the ball by the post. One check of the watch for David Munro to blow the whistle as Ross County make a historical victory over Celtic as they move outside of the relegation zone which now sees Ross County 9th the historic leap from Jordon White was enough to see out the game as Celtic drop more points on the road.
