Motherwell have made there second signing of the window this time in former player Steven Lawless. Lawless began his career in Motherwell before having spell at Thistle, Livingston and most recently Burton Albion .
Lawless has joined from Burton on a 18 month deal and will go straight into Alexanders squad against Rangers.
Lawless can play at any side as a winger but more predominantly on the left. Speaking ahead of the deal being confirmed this morning , Lawless was talking about his previous memories of Fir Park and going into a squad with players he's previously worked with.
"I was here from 10 until I was 21/22, so I have a lot of affection and connection with the club, so it is a good move for me and I am looking forward to it."
"This is the first team I have walked into where I know as many players. There is obviously a lot of boys from Livingston but two from my Thistle days as well, with Stephen O'Donnell and Scott Fox.
Lawless had a spell at Annan Athletic before making his Professional debut in 2010 on loan at Albion Rovers where he impressed. He then finally left Motherwell permanently For Maryhill side Patrick Thistle where he really broke through.
Lawless stayed at Thistle for 6 years becoming a first team regular , playing 190 times and scoring 28 goals. He left Thistle in 2018 after the clubs relegation for Livingston. Lawless again preformed well at livi scoring 11 times in 65 games before leaving for Burton in the summer of 2020.
On paper this seems a decent signing for Motherwell and adds quality and depth with there other two wingers Sherwin Seedorf and Jake Hastie .
Motherwell play league leaders rangers at fir park on Sunday which will undoubtedly be a tough test for the Steelmen ,
