Aberdeen and Motherwell have recently found out who they might face in the 1st Qualifying Round of the 2020/21 season's Europa League. This seasons qualifyers will be played over one leg, which will be played at the team who's drawn at home's ground.

Aberdeen and Motherwell are in a seeded pot with Rosenberg BK Of Norway. Motherwell or Aberdeen could face either Breidablik (Iceland), NSI Runavik (Faroe Islands) or Barry Town United (Wales), Glentoran (Northern Ireland) or HB Torshavn (Faroe Islands).

Aberdeen, Motherwell or Rosenberg CANNOT face each other in this round.

Rangers will come into the competition in the next round (2nd Qualifying Round)

Let's delve into the recent history of Aberdeen and Motherwell in this competition.

Aberdeen -

4th in the Scottish Premiership

Aberdeen have had Europa League for the past 6 years. Yet they haven't surpassed the 3rd qualifying round in any of them. Going out to Real Sociedad, Kairat Almaty, NK Maribor, Apollon Limassol and Rijeka all in the 3rd round, and going out to Burnley in the 2nd. Aberdeen have won 2 European trophies, Cup Winners Cup and Super Cup both in 1983.

Motherwell -

Position Last Season: 3rd in the Scottish Premiership

Motherwell haven't played European football since 2014/15, when they were put out in the second round by Icelandic side, Stjarnan, 5-4 AET on Aggregate. The furthest Motherwell have made us is the Play-offs on 2 separate occasions getting beat Odense and Levante in 2010 and 2012 respectively. They have also made the 3rd Round twice being put out by Steaua Bucuresti and Krasnodar in 2009 and 2013 respectively. Motherwell have never won a European trophy.

With each tie only being one-legged it will give both teams a big advantage to getting into the Group Stages.

Now let's check out the teams the Dons and the Well could face and bit about them.

Breidablik of Iceland:

Postion Last Season: 2nd in the Urvalsdeild

Breiðablik competed in a European competition for the first time in 2010, facingMotherwell in the Europa League Qualifiers. They lost the first leg 1–0

in Scotland, and lost by the same scoreline in the return leg, meaning that the team lost 2–0 on aggregate. A year later, Breiðablik faced Rosenberg in the Champions League Qualifiers, losing out 2–5 on aggregate. The team won away from home in Europe for the first time with a memorable 1–0 victory over Austrian side SK Sturm Graz in the 2013–14 competition.

Only ever making it into the 2nd Qualifying Round of the Europa League once and Champions League once. The most recent Scottish side they played was Dundee United in the UEFA Cup 1st Round where they crashed to a 5-1 defeat.

Our second Faroese side on this list is HB Torshavn. Torshavn have played in the Europa League 6 times only ever making it as far as the 2nd Qualifying Round. They have also played in the Champions League 9 times with their most recent time coming last season where they were knocked out by HJK, the former team of Alfredo Morelos, 5-2.
