Scotland Scrape Past Moldova To Bag Three Crucial Points

Match Report

Scotland picked up a crucial three points in their World Cup Qualifying Group in a 1-0 win verses Moldova.

From the get go, Scotland were on the gas pedals and exposing the cracks in a shaky Moldovan defence. The Scots were playing crafty balls to get past the poorly structured Moldovans.

With the way things were going, Steve Clarke’s men could have scored five in the first half alone.

Fourteen minutes in, the Queens Park Rangers hitman Lyndon Dykes opened the scoring via a tap in after a Nathan Patterson shot was well parried away by the Moldovan keeper.

After the goal, there is nothing to write home about, there was some great play that was eventually met with either a poor shot or a deflection.

There was no threat posed by the opposition, in the dying moments there was a load of us sitting on the edge our seats.

Top performers for Scotland today were Rangers Nathan Patterson, Arsenals Kieran Tierney and Billy Gilmour. Patterson was relentless in his pursuit for winning the ball, the Rangers youth prospect was putting the shame on Everton for only bidding £5 million in this past window.

My Experience

This game was my first Scotland game and it was great to see us win, albeit a poor showing from the lads.

I went to this game with two of my friends, all our first Scotland games, and it was great. The Tartan Army was in full effect with the chants, it is just a shame that Scott McTominay was out as it would have been brilliant to hear his chant.

The game could have, and should have, been much better than what it was but beggars can’t be choosers.
