Austria 0-1 Scotland | Player Ratings

This evening Scotland bagged a fantastic win in Austria to send themselves up to second in the group.

Here are the individual player ratings from tonight’s massive win!

GK - Craig Gordon - 7.3/10

A magnificent clean sheet away from home for the Hearts skipper making multiple saves including a crucial save late on.

Gordon has proved time and time again why he is Scotland’s number 1 and yet again showed his quality tonight.

LCB - Kieran Tierney - 7.1/10

An overall solid performance from the Arsenal full back, Kieran has adopted his left centre half role very nicely recently and clearly suits the position.

CCB - Grant Hanley - 7.2/10

A great performance from a man who many doubted a year or two ago, tonight he showed why he is a Premier League centre half.

RCB - Jack Hendry - 7.3/10

A brilliant performance from the Club Brugge centre half, Jack was not dribbled past ONCE all game and rightly so came away with the clean sheet.

LWB - Andy Robertson - 6.8/10

Not one of his best however a captains performance nonetheless.

A couple wide runs here and there but nothing to shout about.

RWB - Stephen O’Donnell - 6.5/10

Unfortunately for me I just don’t think O’Donnell is good enough, seems to be hot and cold with his performance lately and in my eyes he didn’t play great at all this evening.

RCM - Billy Gilmour - 6.7/10

Again, a performance that wasn’t anything to shout about however every now and then you can see glimpses of a fantastic player.

LCM - Callum McGregor - 7.1/10

In my eyes a very good performance from the Celtic man, bossed a midfield with the likes of Leipzig and Frankfurt players playing through it.

Should Robertson be absent, McGregor would suit the captain’s armband very well.

AM - John McGinn - 6.9/10

A rather average performance from John Mcginn tonight I thought, however he played a crucial part in holding onto the lead near the end.

LS - Lyndon Dykes - 7.3/10

The only scorer of the game, not the prettiest of penalties but a goal is a goal and that is now 2 in 2 for the QPR man!

RS - Che Adams - 6.8/10

Another average performance for me, a couple chances and some good forward play but nothing amazing.

The Subs

Ryan Christie - 6.7/10

Brought on with roughly 20 minutes to go and did well in a couple attacking plays, nothing special however also played a part in holding on to the lead.

Paul Mcginn - 6.6/10

An international debut for the hibs man, an injured O’Donnell made way for Mcginn and he didn’t have very much to do for the 12 or so minutes that were left.

Lewis Ferguson/Kevin Nisbet - N/A

Both players came on with 2 minutes to go so not very judgable due to the limited time they were given on the park.

Overall Team Rating - 7.2/10

Not the bonniest of wins tonight however a win is a win and we can hold our heads high going into the Israel game in October.
